I Murder, Therefore I Am or The Story of One Unsolved Homicide of Modern Culture
23. 6. 2020 od 17 hodin
CCA Prague Auditorium
A lecture given by Jakub Marek, Jakub Chavalka, Ondřej Váša and Tatiana Badurová on the occasion of the exhibition Overview Fact.
What if the whole of our culture is based on a bloody secret? What if all this time it has been concealing a terrible bastard child, whose father is reason and whose mother is art? Why is this child obsessed with killing its parents? Follow us on the bloody trail leading from the Cartesian corpse of René Descartes, via Thomas de Quincey’s murderous disposition, all the way to the ravished carcass of the contemporary cosmos. Together we shall track down the serial killer who will not stop even at the universe itself, whose supernovae and suns he will sweep into the sludge of dark fluids and taboo murk of human entrails. Finally, we will look for him in our own ranks: what if the wanted murderer is none other than the evil twin of our own judgement?
The lecture takes place in collaboration with the Society for Philosophical Anthropology and FHS UK.
