In 1997 and 1998, the Foundation and Center for Contemporary Art
Prague organized the two-part exhibition entitled "Art Work in Public
Spaces". The aim of the exhibition was to bridge the gap between the
general public and the contemporary art world - to interconnect their
more or less separate worlds - by taking works of art out of the closed
space of galleries and museums to address a wider audience, in their
everyday environment.
The project expresed the interest of CCA Prague about an social impact of contemporary art and its success resulted in other CCA Prague public art activities.

Prokop Valley and Dalej Valley in Prague
Art and Landscape/Nature. The goal of the project,
which began as an organic fusion of activities of various local and
international institutions and individuals (nature preservation
activists, town administrators, artists), is to show that the
relationship between mankind, nature and the landscape is something of
value to be reflected upon, respected and explored. This is of
particular importance in today's world, where man has such enormous
technical possibilities to change the character of the landscape.

Running Space (installation)
Artist: Rudolf Härdi (Switzerland)
The Concept of the installation Running Space by Swiss sculptor Rudy
Härdi is large variable structure, constructed from oak logs
interconnected by steel bolts. The Sculpture is always adapted to the
given environment and the artist changes the scale and settings. The
wooden structure creates interesting contrast towards the specific
natural and architectural context and by this challenges the visual
situation of the location.
